Department of Endodontics(Ranjiaba branch)

The Department of Endodontics (Ranjiaba branch) was established in 2000, formerly affiliated to the Department of Oral Medicine founded in 1946. It integrates medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research, serving as a national clinical key specialty. It is also among the first batch of national resident standardized training bases for Oral Medicine. It is a key discipline in Chongqing and has been awarded first-class online courses, first-class offline courses, first-class hybrid courses, and exemplary ideological and political education courses.

The department currently has 29 doctors and 26 nursing staff. Among the doctors, there are 1 professor (chief physician), 9 associate professors (deputy chief physicians) and 19 attending physicians. Among the staff, 13 hold doctoral degrees, 4 dentists are doctoral candidates, and 16 have masters’ degrees.

The department has 39 treatment chairs, all equipped with modern micro-endodontic treatment platforms, including surgical microscopes, motorized nickel-titanium root canal preparation systems, ultrasonic root canal preparation systems, hot gutta-percha filling systems, electronic root apex locators, as well as advanced treatment platforms such as digital dynamic navigation systems, 3D digital printing, chair-side CAD/CAM restoration systems, dual-wavelength laser therapy devices, ultrasonic bone knives, CGF preparation, painless treatment systems, and whitening devices. It offers advanced treatments such as microscopic endodontic therapy, microsurgical endodontics, resin bonding restorations, inlay restorations, caries management, intentional replantation, autogenous tooth transplantation, minimally invasive whitening aesthetic treatment, and difficult dental pulp and periapical disease treatment assisted by digital technology (dynamic navigation and 3D templates).

Over the past five years, the team has obtained 15 national research projects, published 43 SCI-indexed papers, with the highest impact factor of 43.474, and obtained 9 national invention patents. The research directions mainly focus on the relationship between oral microbiota and diseases, regeneration and development of dental tissues, targeted therapy for oral diseases and material development. The team has been recognized with national and provincial awards (National Outstanding Teacher, National Outstanding Counselor), and is recognized as an excellent mentor team, model labor union in Chongqing, excellent scientific and technological team at Chongqing Medical University, one of the first model branches, a leading expert studio with dual leadership, and an excellent grassroots party organization. It has trained the first group of outstanding individuals in Chongqing, Chongqing Scholars Specialized Professors, and the first group of leading medical talents in Chongqing.

1. The diagnosis and treatment of caries, non-carious dental hard tissue diseases, pulp diseases, periapical diseases and others common diseases, frequently-occurring diseases, difficult diseases and multidisciplinary combination.

2. Conventional procedures include resin adhesive repair, microscopic root canal therapy, porcelain inlay restoration, living pulp preservation, minimally invasive dental aesthetic restoration, etc.

3. Application and promotion of advanced core technologies such as intentional replantation, autogenous tooth transplantation, microsurgical apical surgery, fractured tooth reattachment, inlay aesthetic restorations, resin aesthetic restorations (infiltration resin, backplane technology, stamp technique), vascular reconstruction, apical closure, clinical management of caries, laser endodontic treatment, and difficult dental pulp and periapical disease treatment assisted by digital technology (dynamic navigation and 3D templates).
