Department of Pediatric Dentistry (Shangqingsi Branch)

The Department of Pediatric Dentistry (Shangqingsi Branch) of CQMU-SH is a comprehensive department with high technical quality and distinctive medical characteristics, integrating clinical service, scientific research and teaching. It is the training base for talents of pediatric dentistry in southwest China. The department is equipped with 14 dental comprehensive treatment chairs imported from Italy and has advanced equipment such as imported micro root canal therapy instrument, nickel titanium and ultrasonic root canal therapy instrument, root canal length measuring instrument, electronic painless local anesthesia injection therapy instrument and so on.

We routinely carry out the treatment techniques for children's dental caries and pulp diseases, kinds of dental trauma, and early malocclusion correction as well as occlusive induction. What’s more, we continuously promote and popularize children's oral health care knowledge to the public. We are the first to develop nitrous oxide combined with sedation and sevoflurane inhalation general anesthesia technology in China. After more than a decade of development, the department has reached the domestic advanced level in terms of department scale, echelon construction and reception capacity, etc.

At present, the department possess a professional academic team with exquisite technology, spirit of cooperation and continuous progress. The members of the department consist of 12 doctors and 14 nurses. Among the 12 doctors,  three of them are senior professional titles and the other nine are intermediate titles, and four have doctoral degrees and eight have master degrees. In recent five years, the department has published more than 20 SCI papers and has been approved 3 projects by Chongqing Science and Technology Commission and Health Commission.

1.Oral therapy assisted by sevoflurane general anesthesia in children

2.Space maintenance after premature loss of deciduous teeth

3.Dental trauma in children

4.Restoration of resin transparent crown of anterior teeth and metal preformed crown of posterior teeth for deciduous teeth

5.Occlusal induction of early malocclusion in children

6.Assessment and management of children's oral health

7.Pulpotomy and apical induction plasty of young permanent teeth

8.Treatment for dental caries and pulp diseases in children

9.Retention of deciduous teeth and extraction of residual roots and crowns of deciduous teeth

10.Pit and fissure closure and fluoride caries prevention
