Department of Preventive Dentistry

The Department of Preventive Dentistry was established in 2015, which is a comprehensive department integrating clinical services, scientific research, and teaching. There are 1 chief physician, 1 associate chief physician, 6 attending physicians, and 1 resident physician in the department. Equipped with 8 treatment chairs and advanced microscopic instrument like Zeiss, Lycra and Soma, the department is skilled in various techniques, including dental defect cosmetic repairing and resin filling, operation of microscopic root canal treatment, etc.

The department currently has 1 professor (doctoral supervisor) and 2 associate professors (master’s supervisor), and has developed 25 masters and doctors. The department has hosted 1 oral monitoring conference and training for key population in Chongqing in 2021. In the past five years, our department has been approved for 1 project from National Natural Science Foundation and 2 projects from Chongqing Science and Technology Commission, and has published 15 SCI papers and 2 monographs.

Our daily work mainly includes: initial diagnosis and sub-examination; oral disease prevention and health care, and treatment during the whole life cycle; epidemiology survey of oral disease in Chongqing area; oral health care education in Chongqing area; theoretical and clinical teaching of standardized training for undergraduates, postgraduates, and resident physicians. The department undertakes technical training, supervising and  implementing of comprehensive intervention projects for children’s oral diseases in Chongqing, with over 10,000 annual visits. Every year, the department will regularly carry out oral examinations and health education in 25 primary schools and more than 70 kindergartens in Chongqing, covering over 30,000 people.
