Department of Clinical Laboratory

The Department of Clinical Laboratory, the member of the Chongqing Blood Transfusion Medical Association, consists of 6 sub-specialized groups, including the Clinical Blood, the Clinical Biochemistry, the Clinical Immunology, the Clinical Microbiology, the Transfusion and Blood Bank, and the Clinical Gene Amplification. The department has 1 attending physician, 5 chief laboratory technicians, 2 laboratory technicians and 3 nurses, among whom 1 had doctoral degree and 3 master’s degree.

The department possesses nearly 30 advanced international equipment with total assets about 30 million RMB yuan, including automatic biochemical analyzer, chemiluminescence immunoanalyzer, automatic five classification blood cell analyzer, enzyme labeling instrument, urine analyzer, automatic nucleic acid extraction instrument, and real-time PCR, etc. The department has developed up to 125 detection items, and established the technical platform for blood, urine, bacteria, fungi, HIV primary screening and nucleic acid assay. The bar code management of specimen information and paperless service of inspection application and inspection report were realized through linking Laboratory Information System(LIS) to Hospital Information System(HIS). The department actively carries out indoor quality control and participated in national and municipal indoor quality assessment to ensure the authenticity and accuracy of the inspection report.

In recent years, the department has successively been approved 3 new technology and new projects at the Institute level, 1 scientific research project at the provincial and ministerial level, 3 scientific research projects at bureau level. Moreover, we have published more than 10 papers and participated in graduate teaching tasks such as Molecular Biology Experiments and Technologies, Oral Biology, Scientific Research Methods and Basic Technologies of Stomatology.

The department has been adhering to the concept of being faithful to science and serving health, with attitude of patient-oriented, purpose of providing efficient and high-quality services, fundamental of test quality, and constantly improving the quality supervision system while increasing the investment in test items. The department commits to provide faster, better, and more specializedservices for patients.

Diagnosis and treatments include:

1) Blood routine examination: cell count, cell classification, detection of coagulation system

2) Urine routine examination: cell count, pH, urine sugar, occult blood

3) Stool Routine examination: cell count, occult blood

4) Biochemical examination: liver function, kidney function, blood glucose, blood lipid, myocardial zymogram, etc.

5) Immunoassay: hepatitis B, hepatitis A, hepatitis C, syphilis, HIV screening

6) Microbial detection: bacterial and fungal culture, smear and drug sensitivity

7) Molecular Biology detection: COVID-19 nucleic acid detection (2019-nCoV)
