To promote the discipline development of CQMU-SH and enhance the basic theory and practical skills among orthodontic clinical technicians and graduate students, on July 14, CQMU-SH invited professor Zhang Zhaosen, the president of Kaohsiung Dental Association, Taiwan province, the visiting professor of College of Dental Medicine of Kaohsiung Medical University and College of Stomatology of Chongqing Medical University, also the academician of the International College of Dentistry, to deliver an academic lecture titled "Early Correction - Growth and Development and VTO Prediction". Professor Song Jinlin, deputy secretary of the Hospital Party Committee and dean of CQMU-SH, and associate Professor Huang Lan, deputy director (in charge of work) of the Orthodontics Department (Shangqing Branch), as well as clinical doctors and graduate students in the field of orthodontics attended the lecture.
With several typical cases tracking for over 5 years, Professor Zhang Zhaosen vividly demonstrated the theory on craniomaxillofacial and oral growth and development and the importance of early blocking orthodontic treatment. He emphasized the theoretical origin and development of early growth and development visualized Treatment Objective (VTO), as well as its important significance in predicting growth and clinical treatment. From his lecture, the participants got aware of the importance of mastering the theory of craniomaxillofacial bone growth in clinical treatment.
Professor Song Jinlin pointed out that professional orthodontic treatment can not only help patients improve their oral health but help them form a positive and upward health mindset. Orthodontists should not only carry out their daily clinical work but also take the initiative to assume social responsibility and popularize orthodontic knowledge to the public. Hopefully, all orthodontic students can study carefully and become qualified orthodontists.
