Recently, National Natural Science Foundation of China released the review result of 2022 NSFC, and CQMU-SH received the Key International (Regional) Joint Research Program, with the direct funds of 2.5million RMB. It is our first time to obtain this kind of research project.

The project was led by Professor Ji Ping of CQMU-SH, coordinated by Professor Richard David Cannon of Otago University, New Zealand. Combining the advantage of Otago University on fungal research and CQMU-SH on intelligent material system building, the project plans to clarify the mechanism of flora-related peri-implantitics metabolism - immune microenvironmental disorders and synthesizes a newly intelligent controlled-release broad-specturm antibiotics gels, thus promoting the multi-dimensional treatment of peri-implantitis. It will help to improve the treatment efficacy and serve the old and immune dysfunction population in China and around the world, and help to realize the call for a healthy oral cavity and a healthy China, proposed in Tutorial for Outline of the Healthy China 2030 Plan.

The Key International (Regional) Joint Research Program aims to fund scientists to cooperate with foreign counterparts in filed that is supported by the fund or eagerly needed to be developed for China. It is a vital project among all the projects of NSFC, and is one of the most fierce competitive ones.

In recent years, CQMU-SH has vigorously developed international cooperation research by building scientific platform and formulating a series of policy to promote the development of scientific research. Since we signed the strategic cooperation agreement with School of Dentistry, Otago University, in 2019, both sides have established a stable academic exchanges and cooperation mechanism, raising our opening to the world and deepening our cooperation to a higher level. The breakthrough of the project shows the great advancement of our scientific and innovation level, and provides a strong support to our discipline construction.
