Department of Oral Implantology of CQMU-SH (Shangqingsi Branch) is a professional department specializing in the treatment and restoration of oral implant dentures. It is also the first professional dental implantology department established in the western China. Over the past 14 years, the department has developed into a base integrating clinical services, teaching, scientific research and foreign training and exchanges with the strongest technical force, the largest professional team, the most annual implant restoration cases, the most complete professional supporting equipment, and the most complete diagnosis and treatment items in Chongqing. 

At present, the department has 11 professional implant doctors and 9 nurses, including 5 PhD degree holders and 6 master degree holders. 4 of them have senior titles and 3 of them have studied abroad. In addition, there are 1 standing committee member, 1 committee member, and 2 youth committee members of the Oral Implant Special Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Association. 1 and 2 served as the vice chairman and committee members of the Oral Implant Special Committee of the Chongqing Stomatological Association, respectively. 

The department professionaly masters the leading digital implantation technology in China, and is equipped with international mainstream and domestic high-qualified implant system. For patients with conventional/complex dentition defects, dentition loss (full mouth missing teeth), and complex alveolar bone defects, the department proficiently carries out conventional/digital implant restoration, alveolar bone augmentation, and soft tissue reconstruction techniques. The department has carried out multidisciplinary collaboration with periodontology, maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics and other related departments for a long time, and carries out complex cases treatment such as severe periodontitis, congenital teeth missing , and jaw defects. The department carries out five new technologies, new projects and clinical studies, including the application of electronic endoscope in the lifting of the maxillary sinus floor, the tunnel bone grafting technology, the application of 3D printing personalized titanium mesh in complex bone augmentation, The application of the hood technique in site preservation, etc. So far, the department has successfully performed artificial tooth implant restoration for more than 40,000 patients, with a short-term success rate of 99.6% and a 10-year survival rate of 96%, reaching the advanced level at home and abroad.

The department has always led the progress of dental implant technology in Chongqing, and continuously promoted the standardized development of the dental implant medical market in the region. Since 2012, more than 500 dental implant medical staff have been trained through further training programs and various municipal and national continuing education classes. In addition, the department also assisted the Chongqing Municipal Health Management Department to formulate the "Technical Treatment Specifications for Dental Implants" and the industry quality control standards for related medical institutions.

Adhering to the concept of integrating development of medicine, teaching and research, the department has made solid progress in theoretical, clinical and scientific research teaching for both undergraduates and postgraduates. At present, the department has 1 doctoral supervisor and 2 master supervisors. In total, 3 funds of national Natural Science Foundation of China and 5 Chongqing Municipal Bureau level projects have been approved. More than 60 scientific research papers have been published in international and national journals, and about 15 national invention and utility model patents have been approved. The staff of the department participated in the compilation of 2 textbooks by the People's Medical Publishing House in 2022, participated in the compilation of 3 monographs, and translated or participated in the translation of 6 foreign language monographs. 3 undergraduate courses of the Oral Implantology have won the title of first-class courses in Chongqing, and one of our members won the second prize of the 2021 Chongqing Teaching Innovation Competition.
