Department of Endodontics(Shangqingsi Branch)

The Department of Endodontics, established in 1946, is a comprehensive department integrating medical services, teaching and scientific research, which is one of the oldest endodontics specialty in Chongqing. The department was approved as the Training Base for Dental Practitioner of Chongqing, Standardized Training Base for Dentistry Residents of Chongqing, Consultation Center of Intractable Endodontics, and Promotion Center of New Theory and Techniques of Endodontics.

With strong technical force, the department has formed a reasonable talent team consisted of primary, intermediate and senior dentists with chief and associate physician as its core. The department has currently 53 medical staff members, includes 1 member of Endodontics Special Committee of Chinese Medicine Association, 2 vice-chairmen of Endodontics Special Committee of Chongqing Medicine Association, 5 associate chief physicians(3 master supervisor), 23 attending physicians, 2 with overseas education background, and 23 with master’s degree or above.

The department is equipped with advanced dental cone-beam CT machine, root canal microscope, ultrasonic root canal treatment instrument, hot gutta-percha root canal filling equipment, oral digital CAD/CAM system, nitrous oxide sedation system, Beyond Gold Light Whitening Instrument, etc.

The Department is responsible for the education programs for undergraduates and postgraduates of Chongqing Medical University. Over the past five years, the department has presided multiple scientific research projects, approved 2 patents, co-edited 3 textbooks, and published over 10 SCI articles. Every year, around 10 faculty members would participate in national academic conferences or training courses, and some of them made presentations in the conferences. The department also held several national and municipal programs of medical continuing education.
