In December 2021, the project entitled "Nano-micro Alternating Multilayer Scaffold Loading with BMP4 for the Reconstruction and Regeneration of Cranio-maxillofacial Defect", submitted by the College of Stomatology, Chongqing Medical University (CQMU-CS), successfully won the National Gold Award in the 7th National Competition for undergraduate on Innovation Research & Experimental Design in Basic Medical Sciences.
This project, funded by the 2021 undergraduate innovation and entrepreneurship project of CQMU-CS, aims to develop a new type of bone tissue engineering scaffold for repairing craniofacial bone defects caused by tumors, trauma, and inflammation, etc. It will provide a new treatment strategy for clinical craniofacial bone defects. Four team members (Zhirui He, Kaile Li, Ruoyi Li, and Junru Wan) of the project are all undergraduate students, who had joined the summer training program of innovation and entrepreneurship of our college this year. Dr. Li Jie ( associate research fellow) of Chongqing Key Laboratory of Oral Diseases and Biomedical Sciences, and Pang Mengwei issued their instructions throughout the competition.
The competition is one of the most influential scientific research exhibition events for undergraduates in the field of basic medical science in China, which has been held for six consecutive years. The competition focuses on the training goals of outstanding medical talents under the background of new medical sciences, reveals college students¡¯ contemporary spirit of confident, innovative, and patriotic through science and technology, and builds a platform for high-level scientific activities that is multi-disciplined and all-round cooperated.
