Overview

The Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University (CQMU-SH), also recognized as the College of Stomatology, Chongqing Medical University and Chongqing Stomatological Hospital, was established in 1943. It currently consists of two branches (Ranjiaba branch and Shangqingsi branch) and three outpatient departments (Longhu Guangnian Outpatient Department, University Town Hospital Outpatient Department, and the Third Affiliated Hospital Outpatient Department), forming a development pattern of "one hospital, two branches, and multiple outpatient clinics." Notably, it stands as the sole Grade A, Level III stomatological hospital in Chongqing that integrates medical treatment, education, scientific research, prevention, healthcare, and emergency services.

 


Medical Service. The hospital has a total building area of 66,500 square meters, with a designated capacity of 100 ward beds and 540 dental treatment chairs, serving over one million outpatient visits annually. It operates 19 clinical and medical technology departments, 4 major clinical diagnostic and treatment centers, and 5 specialized outpatient departments. The Orthodontics is recognized as a National Clinical Key Specialty, and The Endodontics has been approved as a National Clinical Key Specialty construction project. The Department of Stomatology (which includes 9 secondary disciplines such as periodontology) is recognized as the Chongqing Key Clinical Specialty. The Anesthesia Department has been approved as the Key Specialty Construction Project of Chongqing. The Oral Hygiene has been designated as a Public Health Key Specialty Construction Project. The Oral Disease Prevention and Control Center has been approved as a Major Disease Prevention and Control Center in Chongqing. The hospital has innovatively launched clinical research on applications of artificial intelligence robots in implant surgery, new techniques for treating complex endodontic cases using computer-assisted navigation, clinical applications of CAD/CAM personalized orthodontic appliances, and techniques for individualized reconstruction of alveolar ridge defects using absorbable fixation systems. The hospital is equipped with advanced devices such as implant surgical robots, dental micro-power systems (electric bone surgical instruments), pulsed light and laser systems, nickel-titanium preparation systems, thermoplastic filling systems, ultrasonic root canal treatment systems, electronic root canal measurement systems, electronic face bows, and digital occlusion detection instruments. Leveraging its status as a National Clinical Key Specialty in orthodontics, the hospital conducts digital multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment for complex cases and ¦Ð-shaped osteotomy correction surgery, independently develops 3D-printed personalized orthodontic appliances and attachments, and has obtained 4 Class II medical device registration certificates (including two first-time registrations), promoting these innovations to 20 provinces and cities nationwide. The hospital has completed the world's first robot-assisted simultaneous reconstruction surgery of the jaw and dental arch, and the domestic first same day reconstruction surgery for the jawbone and dentition (jaw-in-a-day technology). and the first "endoscope-assisted implant surgery combined with bone compression for maxillary sinus elevation" in the Chongqing area. The hospital's comprehensive capacity for oral medical services ranks among the top in China.

 

Talent Resources. The hospital employs over 1,000 staff members, including more than 900 professional technical personnel, over 140 with senior titles, over 20 doctoral advisors, and around 80 master's advisors. It has 5 national-level talents recognized in programs such as the National High-Level Talent Program, experts enjoying special government subsidies from the State Council, and excellent young scientists supported by the National Natural Science Foundation. Additionally, 26 provincial and ministerial-level talents were recognized, including outstanding young scientific fund recipients, experts with significant contributions in Chongqing, and academic and technical leaders. Over 70 other talents of various levels and categories are also present.

 

Education. The hospital relies on the "National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Stomatology" to construct a complete dental medical education system that nurtures undergraduates, masters, doctors and residents. Two primary disciplines, stomatology and stomatology technology, have been approved as national first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites. The hospital is authorized to confer master's and doctoral degrees in the primary discipline of Stomatology and has also been authorized to confer professional master's and doctoral degrees in Stomatology. Since 2004, it has been conducting standardized training for resident physicians and is one of the first national-level standardized residency training bases. It also serves as a base for practical skills examinations for national medical qualification and for examiner training (in the dental category), a pilot specialty training base for standardized training systems for specialist physicians (oral and maxillofacial surgery), and a key professional base for standardized residency training in general dentistry. The hospital has been approved to establish the National Post-doctoral Mobile Center and Station.

 

Scientific Research. the hospital currently hosts 13 national-level platforms including National Drug Clinical Trial Institutions, National Medical Device Clinical Trial Institutions, as well as eight provincial and ministerial-level platforms such as the Chongqing Key Laboratory for Oral Diseases. The hospital has engaged in extensive research collaborations with internationally renowned institutions such as the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, the University of Otago in New Zealand, and the University of Chicago in the United States. In the past three years, it has been approved for 32 national-level projects, including key projects from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Natural Science Foundation, as well as 89 provincial and ministerial-level research projects. The hospital has received 6 scientific achievement awards, including tChongqing Natural Science Award and Chongqing Science and Technology Progress. It has edited and co-edited 18 monographs, published 441 research papers, including 312 articles indexed by SCI, with the highest impact factor exceeding 30. The hospital has authorized 89 patents, including national invention patents, utility model patents, and PCT patents. Projects such as the clinical application of 3D-printed orthodontic appliances and attachments have already achieved clinical translation.
